The Fight for Playoff Spots is in Full Swing/ Trade Deadline Looms

There are only four weeks left for teams to claim a playoff spot in the three Browns Board Fantasy Leagues. Twenty-three of the teams have records of .500 or above which means that anything can happen and most teams are still alive in the hunt for a playoff bid. Teams that seemed like they didn't have a chance could still leapfrog over the field to vie for the championships. Even those teams out of reach of the top have a chance to be spoilers making the concluding weeks of the season exciting and challenging for everyone. The bye weeks are finally over and there will be no more excuses. It's time for the cream to rise and for the pretenders to accept their just desserts.

League One's week 10 action was highlighted by Beanpot's 105-90 victory over DTBH despite leaving McNabb and 29 points on the bench. The Parma Pounders had Tom Brady resting his throwing arm during the bye but won anyway, defeating the Winged Nuts 82-52. Carolina Mayhem suffered a bye week blunder by leaving the kicker's spot vacant but still managed to win over Dropping the Hammer. Hammer is still clinging to second place after having lost two in a row. Zombo's boasts went for naught as his Dawgpounders lost to Tom Tupa 95-52.

League Two leaders have to keep an eye on Beanpot who won their fifth game in a row, crushing Gridiron Mayhem by a score of 99-47. The WPBDawgs probably couldn't believe their good fortune as they defeated the Guard Dawgs 71-70. The Dawgs must have been living right to score 8 points from their QB, Peyton Manning in spite of 6 interceptions for the day. The Latrobe33ers achieved their third consecutive victory by defeating the dirty hands 91-88. Dirty hands' only remark in response to the loss was a dejected, "I know."

Thaaktown! at 3-6-1 for the season stunned the 6-3-1 Samoth's Super Slam 89-81. Slam's 34 points from Brian Westbrook and 16 points from Marshawn Lynch were not enough to make up for subpar performances from the rest of the team. Thaaktown! responded to the win with an enthusiastic, "Wow!"

Calfox was gracious in defeat offering "Congrats" to the Houston Fluffers who won convincingly, 83-44. Calfox felt the pain of Tom Brady's absence and described his KosarDawgs' performance as "Pitiful." The Fluffers were ecstatic and cited QB Kurt Warner as the Key to Victory. A game ball also went to Terrell Owens who helped the team with 26 points.

In League Three, the 8-2 Pack Rats are stealing the show with a startling 1058 total team points and seven (7) wins in a row. 246 of the Rats' points came from QB Tom Brady who leads the Leagues in scoring. This week the Pack Rats didn't seem to feel the pain of Brady's day off, winning over Huskymania by the healthy margin of 104-83. Hovering not far behind the Rats, also at 8-2, is Lambdo's Air Show who squeaked out a 54-49 win over Jumpin' Jack Flash. The Air Show earned 26 points from Tony Romo but survived without the help of the Leagues' #2 scorer, Randy Moss who had the week off.

The #3 team in League Three is Fan of Steel who garnered Viagra honors for the week, winning 116-77 over Inspecta's Fat Chicks.

The trade deadline is looming and the final exchanges of the season will have to take place quickly. The trading blocks are crowded and offers are being tendered. If you are fortunate enough to have a team in one of the Leagues, check the trading deadline as it varies slightly from league to league. Keep in mind that there is a waiting period before trades are final and that the end of this waiting period must fall before the deadline for trades to be finalized. This means that trade offers must be made ASAP.... as in, NOW. Please check your email, your team page, and the message boards for each league to be sure you are not missing any trade proposals. In the spirit of good sportsmanship, please do your league members the courtesy of responding promptly to any trade offers. The only thing worse than neglecting your team, is neglecting to reply to proposals made in good faith. Good Luck! and if you need/want to make a trade for the current season, GET BUSY!

Hey, thanks for pointing this out. And a *big* thanks for writing these recaps every week. I know they take a lot of time and it's not like you're being paid to do this stuff...just know that it's very appreciated!

I also like your writing style. It's fun to read.

Although my wife has always said that if I ever took viagra, every woman within a mile should run for their lives. My libido improves with age. Banana

Well, if your follow through is as good as your libido, I'm sure your wife is a happy woman. (Seriously, it's pretty cool that libidos and their accessory parts are so easy to fix.)
