He came off the bench, scored 19 in his first game back. Hit 4 from downtown. I'm ready for my Mike Bibby, please.

I usually try not to get too excited about this kind of thing...it might never happen, if it does the guy might disappoint, etc etc.

But Bibby seems like the exact kind of player we need. He's been the floor general on some very good teams in college and the pros. Like most Lute Olsen guys (Jet Terry, Arenas, etc) he loves to shoot but knows WHEN to do it, not like Hughes or Sasha simply trying to get on Sportscenter. And since he's played with Michael Dickerson, Peja, Webber, Kevin Martin, etc he knows how to get the wing players involved.

On the other side...

Moving Varejao to the starting lineup (assuming we trade Gooden) seems pretty tough. We have a horribly shallow bench as it is. Our only big men on the bench would be Newble and Simmons, and Marshall if he comes back (and if you consider him a big man). I think it's much easier to find a PF than a PG, but we'd still be filling a hole by creating one.

All that said, Bibby is a good point guard. Good point guards are hard to come by. I'd do a Gooden for Bibby trade in a second and go after a DJ White, Josh Heytvelt type player in the draft.

I'm like CIMO, somewhat weary about what it would do to our depth in big men. Donyell Marshall may be back soon, but is he a guy we want getting big minutes? I mean if he's not knocking down his 3's, he's a liability on the court.

But with Boobie happy coming off the bench, I would LOVE to see Bibby in here as far as the guards are concerned. He'd be LeBron's best teammate in the NBA by a good margin.

Keep in mind he had 0 assists to go with that 19 pts.

We don't need another scorer, we need someone to run the floor.

I have to disagree there. You don't need Steve Nash-level assist numbers to be a good point guard. The PG duties are just to set the tempo, manage the offense. That's when you see guys like Jason Terry/Devin Harris, Tony Parker, Brandon Roy, etc. all playing the point very well but not averaging a lot of assists.

Right now I'm fine with "another scorer" as long as it's an experienced, confident player. Bibby knows what to do with the ball and I think he would definitely put us back in the top 3 in the east and get us on track for "rebuilding."

Our assist guy is #23.

Bibby will distribute when he needs to. I like the trade. Gooden seems to be bottoming out.

But man... a win in San Antonio? 9 out of 11? We're hot!

Two games back, both off the bench... 19 and 16 points. He had 4 assists and 5 rebounds last night.

Mike Bibby, please.

I'm all for it, we have several disappointing pieces.

You'd think that guys like Gooden, Pavlovic, Hughes, would do anything under their power to be that proverbial "Pippen" to Lebron... and none of them are stepping it up, 3 years later.

The Sacramento Bee reported an agreement in principal has been reached to send Mike Bibby to the Hawks for guards Anthony Johnson and Tyronn Lue, center Lorenzen Wright and forward/center Shelden Williams.

The newspaper reports the deal is contingent upon league approval, which could come Saturday.

According to sources who didn't want to be identified, there is a 4 p.m. conference call scheduled Saturday between the Hawks, Kings and league officials.

When contacted Saturday morning by The Sacramento Bee, Bibby said he wasn't surprised he was being traded, but was surprised he was headed to Atlanta.

"I had some good times here in Sacramento," Bibby told the newspaper. "Sometimes you need a change and you never know where that might take you. I just prayed and asked for what might be the best for my family and this is what happened, so you can't question it.

"I'll always have love for the people in Sacramento, the Maloofs and [President] Geoff [Petrie]."

Yeah, it's being reported as kind of a one-up on the Cavs, who've been trying to get Bibby for a year now. Very disappointing, and I get the sense Bibby wasn't thrilled.

Sure looks like the Hawks got the best of that one, huh?

I think the Cavs will have to win with what they've got. Hughes has to stay hot and Drew and Z will have to come out of their comas.
