Numbers Retired and hangs in the rafters |
Guess what percentage of teenagers believe abortion is "an immoral thing to do," per a Gallup poll?
72 percent. That blew my mind. In today's LA Times. 33 percent think it should be illegal, compared to 17 percent of adults. My daughter (a liberal who thinks abortion is basically grotesque) said that her generation seems far less likely to accept that "pro choice" is the right/cool way to think as a liberal. They're more a la carte. |

Didn't you find that article to be creepy as hell?
"Let's adopt fetuses and name them so they don't get aborted and then they can thank us later in heaven! Yay!" Eesh. |

I skipped that part (!).
Yeah, it was creepy. I have a part of my brain that repels creepy and retains interesting although probably meaningless stats. |

Upside: Racism, even the subtle flavors, seems to diminish with each generation and sub-generation. Someone said mixing races is the real racism killah, and I can see that, too.
This "a la carte" approach to politics is encouraging. Blanket acceptance of any ideology has done nothing but push too many people to the margins, and it isn't even real. It's just flag waving. It's much easier now to be a liberal but believe abortion is a last resort at best. I think Clinton helped with that a little, too. |
