Numbers Retired and hangs in the rafters |
Wow. I know Fox News has become a comedy network for roughly 89 percent of the country (11 percent still think it's real)... but that's horrifically racist. Like, disgusting.
I feel pretty confident that Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, and the people who still listen and watch are being pushed to the distant margin where they belong. |

Didn't Michelle call Barak her "Baby's daddy?"

So you think that then makes it okay for a "news" organization to use that as a chyron describing the potential First Lady?
Again, Republican strategy 101: a) The Democrat is not like you. (She's black! They talk funny!!) Fox's chyrons are the stuff of legend. This is nothing new. |

So did that one chick get fired over saying Barack and Michelle were exchanging a terrorist fist jab?
And now an apology? My mother-in-law thinks Fox News is real. She's coming to live in California. I'm practicing not giving a shit, but it's hard. |

I went looking for the spoof The Daily Show did on the Fox chyrons. Here it is:

So you refuse to answer?
I see. And bad tidings in Iraq are not good news for you and Obama? Like, you know, high energy prices? Hot diggety! WSS |

Seriously, "Obama's baby mama?" Shouldn't there be some serious f-ing fallout from that?
They were grotesquely sexist against Hillary... now overt racism? Shouldn't somebody shut that flaming pile of shit down soon? |

I remember that TDS bit, Heck. Good stuff. "The Best President?"?! Jeez, when Colbet does it it comes across as a heavy-handed joke. When Cavuto does it, baby Jesus weeps.
Shep raises two interesting points. First, is it overt racism? I'm not so sure. I can think of a lot worse overt racism than using the phrase "baby mama," which, let's face it, is stupid when anyone uses it. A charitable explanation would be to say that the producers are making a pathetic attempt at being hip. A less charitable view (which I would subscribe to) is that they are making a pathetic attempt at taking a jab at a candidate who embraces being a younger black guy, as Obama does. When I think of "overt racism," I'm more reminded of, well, Klansmen. I disagree with Fox News's editorial stance, I think many of their reporters are lousy journalists, but I don't think they're Klansmen, or that they particularly think like them. The second question is, shouldn't someone shut them down? Yes, if that someone is viewers who stop watching O'Reilly, forcing Murdoch to go back to what he does best, which is airing shows in which foundlings try to identify their birth parents and midgets look for true love. Other than that, no; there's no law against stupidity or irony, so they are free to have O'Reilly go on and lecture us about morality. Dennis For that matter, they can bring back John "We Need to Outbreed the Mexicans" Gibson for another run, too. |

No you're not. And it's tedious when you repeatedly play the dumb card. Michelle Obama called Barak her "baby's daddy" right? Yes or no? And if the war goes well and is reported that way it's good for John McCain and the Republicans. Which is bad for you guys in the effort to grab power. Like if gas went to 1.50. WSS |

We're not playing the dumb card. No one can follow your illogical leaps from subject to subject. You went from Fox News' chyron to Iraq to high energy prices in the span of three lines, and no one could make head or tail out of what your point was.
And yes, Michelle Obama said that. That's also not really the point. Just like there may be people in southwest Virginia who have called each other "rednecks", but that doesn't mean Andrea Mitchell should go on NBC News and describing southwest Virginia as "redneck country." Again, distinctions, my friend, distinctions... |

Steve, every time you wax crazy and incomprehensible, we say, "Huh?"
And you say, "Stop playing stupid!!" Just stop saying bizarre shit and hold a conversation. Focus. |

Also, Steve, I'm not sure we want to get into a discussion about the difference between Michelle referring to her husband as her "baby daddy" and Fox News referring to her as "Obama's baby mama", but we can if you like.
They're not the same thing. One is "the father of my baby" and the other is "woman who had my out of wedlock child." But that's okay, too. Next time they can try "Obama's wife" or "Michelle." |

Heck your problem is you know nothing about "Black people". Your some guy living on the wrong coast. I work, live, eat with blacks everyday, how about you? You think you "know" what blacks want. Your a dumb ass. Your a privileged white boy.

I'm glad to hear that you're such a man of the people, DieHard. Just wondering: have you shared any of these views with your African-American buddies?

I stand by all the remarks. I'm not a phoney like you Alo, someone who spends there life on this forum. I have more experience than you or heck living with "blacks"

Numbers Retired and hangs in the rafters |
Yeah, that wouldn't go over well. But I'm sure Diehard will knock some sense into their black heads.
And to know some black people is to know all black people, right? Two of my best friends here in Whiteville just happen to be black, one a mega-rich record producer and the other a mortgage exec. Neither has ever been poor... and I don't think either would pretend to speak for the African Americans who feel hopeless, left behind, or shut out of the system. Wait -- my third friend is Cuban and looks more black than white, so that might count as three in Colbert's book!! WHOOOO! I'm not friends with them because they're black anymore than I'm friends with white people because they're white. We have kids who play sports together and we share some sensibilities. Like we're all much cooler than fully white people (I'm 1/8 Cherokee). I can dance, but it rains every time I do. Anyway, I forgot my point. I have a notes call on a Friday late afternoon and that pisses me off. |
