Don't worry about it too much. The wealthiest Chinese are just turning around and putting their money in US banks, sending their kids to US universities, and finding ways to move over here to spend their money.

It is not about "putting my head in the sand," it is about understanding that there is more the the story than the media and public opinion is feeding you. If you think the US has problems I am here to tell you that China has tons more, none of them are easy to solve, and all the money in the world won't make them go away.

I also don't think you can make too many comparisons between ancient Rome (and what they stood for) versus the United States and what we stand for.

Just offering another angle to your claim that China owns the US. If you don't want to hear it then I won't bother.

Thanks, Steve.

Let me put it like this. Alaska, Texas, and Hawaii are not being forcibly held into the union by the central authority in Washington who is fearful of armed insurgencies within those three territories, but that is exactly what Beijing fears from Tibet, Xinjiang, and Taiwan. That is just an example of one of a myriad of problems that he PRC has to solve before they can claim to be on the same level as us.

Yeah, we have some really big problems that we need to solve in here in America too. The 90's are over and they are not coming back. However, I would take our problems over China's in a heartbeat.

Just one man's opinion. Take it or leave it.

could not agree with you more. Their "economic boom" fueled in part by our consumption and shifting of manufacturing to China which has terrible corrupt provincial governments is destroying their ecology. They have a massive ground/fresh water supply issue that is only going to get worse while Beijing is "sinking" because of their ground water tables collapsing.

Couple that with a massive female to male ratio issue that exist now and will get worse thanks in part ot cultural preference of male to female and population control measures limiting family reproduction. That has always been shown to be dangerous when that many males are unable to find a mate they turn toward other "rebellious violent behavior" according to a majority of sociologist. The country is vastly larger than ours with a massive gap between those who are part of the booming corrupt free enterprise government controlled hybrid economy which always leads to problems long term.

China's border of Nuclear India and Nuclear russia which have not exactly been close allies along with crazy possibly nuclear North korea is always a problem. They do have the Taiwan issue that will not go away because Taiwan is FULLY backed by the U.S.. I would say they have more severe problems than we do.

Well said Sev. Those are exactly some of the other issues I was thinking of. After the national euphoria of the Olympics is gone this year I think we could see some very interesting things happen both in China and in the region. For the sake of the US and the world economy we better hope that the PRC doesn't implode any time soon.

I just got back from a trip to Europe (first time there) and was surprised at how dumpy-looking it was. I couldn't even find any good Italian food in Italy. The food at Olive Garden is better than the food you can find in an average Italian place. The best food I had in Italy was at an Irish pub!

If you ever find yourself in the "Old Montreal' restaurant district, I recommend dinner at Stash's Polish Restaurant.

The only problem is that Canada's protectionish regulations do not allow the restaurant to sell Polish beer.

It is not Polish beer, per se, but they are quite protectionish when it comes to protecting their breweries.

Doesn't Canadian radio have a regulation in terms of what percentage of play time is devoted to national bands?

Yep.
There's an MTV rip called Much Music which is mostly Canuck.

Actually it's kind of cool.
There is so much diversity in music that we never hear.

Well I won't be getting any money back at all. I was just told Friday I owe over $8500.00, and that is after writing off hotels, miles, phone, office, ect... and all the other shit I can write off as a sales rep. I need to buy a house or a kid or something.

Taxes suck the big one.
