so which one is the conservative?

Candidate A

The only candidate to earn an A+ rating from Gun Owners of America, Has been a lead sponsor of legislation in congress attempting to restore individual Second Amendment rights.

Supports free trade, rejecting membership in NAFTA and the World Trade Organization as "managed trade".

He supports tighter border security and ending welfare benefits for illegal aliens, and opposes birthright citizenship and amnesty[citation needed]; he voted for the Secure Fence Act of 2006.

Voted for the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Terrorists in response to the September 11, 2001, attacks,[72] but suggested war alternatives such as authorizing the president to grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal targeting specific terrorists.

Would abolish the individual income tax by scaling back the federal budget to its 2000 spending levels.[ Rather than taxing personal income, which he says assumes that the government owns individuals' lives and labor, he prefers the federal government to be funded through excise taxes and/or uniform, non-protectionist tariffs.

Strongly supports Constitutional rights, the right to bear arms, freedom of the Internet, jury nullification, and habeas corpus for political detainees. Civil liberties concerns have led him to oppose the Patriot Act, a national ID card, federal government use of torture, domestic surveillance, presidential autonomy, and the draft

Candidate B

Was filmed attending a Planned Parenthood fundraiser in 1994, and has made many pro-choice comments in the past, but he now says that he has "acknowledged my error" and is pro-life. says that he believes that Roe v. Wade should be overturned, that "abortion is the wrong choice except in cases of incest, rape, and to save the life of the mother," and that "states, through the democratic process, should determine their own abortion laws and not have them dictated by judicial mandate."[

Has been a strong supporter of some gun control legislation, backing the Brady Bill, a five-day waiting period on gun sales, and a ban on certain assault weapons, and he still backs the ban on assault weapons. Has also supported some legislation that was endorsed by the National Rifle Association and the Gun Owners' Action League believes that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms, rather than merely protecting a right of states.

Supported the invasion of Iraq, and supports the "troop surge." Upon hearing the testimony of David Petraeus, Romney reemphasized his agreement with current policy in Iraq and has called for a "Surge of Support" for the military. Romney has called for increased military spending to at least 4 percent of the United States GDP and wishes to increase the size of the military by at least 100,000 troops.

Focused on tax relief for "middle income Americans," and has advocated eliminating the capital gains tax for all those who earn less than $200,000 per year Has also advocated eliminating the estate tax, signed a pledge to oppose "any and all efforts" to increase income taxes, and promises to control spending by Congress.

welcomes increased legal immigration and supports giving "a biometrically-enabled and tamperproof card to non-citizens and ... a national database for non-citizens" in order to reduce illegal immigration.

Supports the death penalty, charter schools, and sentencing under the three strikes law. opposes the use of "torture"; however, he supports the limited use of "enhanced interrogation techniques," which he believes are not torture.

Candidate C

Supported the 2003 invasion of Iraq; the U.S. decision to overthrow the Saddam Hussein regime; a continued and increased military presence in Iraq; and most of Bush's foreign policies. His speech at the 2004 Republican National Convention centered on that theme.[citation needed]

Despite offering support for war, has urged the Bush administration to make "significant policy changes" in the Iraq War. He criticized The Pentagon several times, most notably concerning low troop strength in Iraq, and has called for a diversification of Iraqi national forces to better represent the multiple ethnic groups contained within the country.has emphasized deficit reduction over tax cuts. The contrast with George Bush's preference for tax cuts was prominent during the 2000 presidential campaign, and after Bush became president he opposed his tax cut proposals.

A strong supporter of private Social Security accounts and is against socialized health care, instead favoring tax credits for families that get health insurance

Has declined to sign the pledge put forth by Americans for Tax Freedom not to impose any new taxes or increase existing taxes. was one of two Republicans who voted against Bush's tax cuts in 2001. He opposed accelerating the cuts in 2003, but voted in 2006 to extend the tax cuts.

voted against the Federal Marriage Amendment, arguing that each state should be able to choose whether to recognize same-sex marriage. He believes that the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy should remain in place, citing reports from military leaders that "this policy ought to be continued because it's working."

He pledges to uphold the Second Amendment should he be elected president.[58]has received fair to poor ratings on gun issues from the National Rifle Association, garnering a C+.

e pledges to uphold the Second Amendment should he be elected president.[58]has received fair to poor ratings on gun issues from the National Rifle Association, garnering a C+.
Other organizations have been more sharply critical; according to a review by Gun Owners of America (GOA), "in 2001, went from being a supporter of anti-gun bills to being a lead sponsor." GOA rating is F-.

Voted against the Federal Assault Weapons Ban and the efforts to renew it, as well as the Brady Bill.

H has promoted legislation to legalize and eventually grant citizenship to the estimated 12–20 million illegal aliens in the United States and to create an additional guest worker program with an option for permanent immigration. He has also frequently supported increases in guest worker visas and legal immigration.

His prominent role in promoting the Senate's 2006 immigration legislation, including an initial cosponsorhip role with Ted Kennedy, made him a focus of the debate in 2006, and his support for S.1348 did so again in 2007. The immigration issue caused intense friction within his own party and is widely cited as a major reason for his presidential campaign's difficulty. Has often supported increasing immigration to the US, including expansion of the H-1B visa program (though H-1B is technically a non-immigrant visa, about 50% of all recipients eventually do immigrate). In 2005, he co-sponsored a bill with Ted Kennedy that would expand use of guest worker visas

opposed and campaigned against A state initiative intended to prevent non-citizens from voting or applying for public benefits, arguing that it would be overly expensive to execute, that it would be ineffectual, and that immigration regulation falls only under the purview of the federal government.

has indicated that he supports the use of the death penalty for federal crimes; mandatory prison terms for selling illegal drugs; and stronger restrictions on the purchase and possession of guns

Hi Mo.
I'm gonna guess Ron Paul Mitt and and McCain.

I feel a little bad for Paul as he seems to get painted into the crackpot corner.
And I agree with him on some issues.
And NOT others.

We wrongly equate conservatism with militarism sexual preference and abortion but we fail to see the libertartian portion.

Depending on definition he's probably the closest to a conservative running.

Then again by that definition I'm not that conservattive either.

To be honest I don't care too much.

I assume every politician has somne link to some nickle and dime swindle.

Hard to explain but most "ethics" charges seem to be tiny compared to what I would do if I were in a government job.

I think we over react while missing the poiunt of whatever policies we think are important.

Ya vote for a drunk who cheats on his wife and has the Army Corps of Engineers pave his mom's driveway but whose policies mirror your own or the socialiist/nazi boyscout?

But isn't one of the core tenets of liberal thinking to keep an open mind and consider ALL options before determining the best one?

Hmmmm....

HA! ROFL Nice.
No, only if it suits them. Lib's do not tolerate intolerance. It's really funny, as soon as you disagree with one, it's amazing how intolerant of you they become.
e.g. Any personal or religious belief is acceptable, as long as it's not found in the Bible.

Being a Liberal myself...If McCain wins his party's nomination...Im inclined to vote for him because he seems to be a fair guy in my opinion and I like his strong demeanor.
