Hitchens gives me a headache. He fascinates me on some levels... but I can't help reducing him to the notion that he was really and righteously pissed about 9/11 and so anything that happens afterwards from the Anglo world, including Iraq, gets a free pass.

There can be two wrongs. Or more.

Just wondering what the Polls where to Taft or maybe a few others early on. Oh wait I don't think they did polls back then and I am pretty sure that that counts as recorded history.

Also it is a poll, I can manipluate a poll to prove anything I want. All I have to do is ask pointed closed ended questions and choose my sample right. Lets see, lets call people at 9am at their homes and see if they are satisified with the economy. Hmmm most people home at that time what....... don't have a job so I bet they are pissed off. Also I would like to know how many people where polled that did not answer. another fact, most people do not reply to surveys and polls, usually only thoe people with a grudge do.

Bush 29% Approval
Congress 22% Approval.

By Richard Wolf, USA TODAY
WASHINGTON — As President Bush and Congress battle on the budget, homeland security and the war in Iraq, Americans blame both Republicans and Democrats for the impasse.
By more than 2-to-1 margins, they give the president, congressional Democrats and congressional Republicans unfavorable ratings in a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll released Monday. While Bush's ratings have been poor for most of the past two years, the two parties in Congress hit new lows in the poll.

All I can say is DEE DEE DEE.

It took seven years for the public to make Bush a rating he deserved

That is so cool the American people take seven years to realize and idiot is an idiot

as for Congress ................it is half and half the 22% sgit half are the republicans with a zero rating.

so the dem half gets a 44% rating and both suck

But no one is talking about term limits

and the greatest of all the dumbass republicans are blaming dems for the problems when Bush vetoes any dem initiative and they controlled congress and the white and the supreme court for five years '

TO CReaTE A MASSIVE MESS IN AMERica

bUT GOOD POST nAV DUMB AS A BRICK AS USUAL BUT GOOD

I love it when you're demanding.

Guys, it's Gallup and USA Today / CNN. This isn't me and Heck making the calls. It's real -- Bush is the most unpopular president in "modern history." Truman is included, so it goes back.

T, Clinton left office with a 65 percent APPROVAL rating. Different universes as far as popularity. Not even remotely close. Bush is more in line with Nixon.

Is what it is, guys. If you voted for him, you have to eat this one. Historians agree, too -- worst president ever.

Cal, you didn't just vote for him... you campaigned for him. If this doesn't make you stay off the political board, what will?

I want you to tell me who you want for president this time... so we know who we absolutely, positively can't allow to be president.

Why would I stay off, Sheply? I didn't campaign for Bush because Bush was Ronald Reagan. Hardly.

I campaigned for Bush only because I felt it was imperative not to elect a phoney, cowardly, purple heart-chasing John Kennedy wannabe.

Kerry was awful as a "human being" and as a soldier and as a nominee for Pres.

Bush won twice. Think about what that means.

(give up? It means the leftist marxists in the Dem party were openly grabbing a hold of the Dem party and were nominating losers. Neither Hitlery or Obumba will win.)

The majority of Americans want a real pres in there, especially now.

McCain will be the next president - I don't believe the pendulum is going to start swinging back toward liberalism just yet.

We'll see.

No, Steve, all those guys were included in both the Gallup AND historians' conclusions.

According to both, W is the worst president ever.

You seem to be struggling to accept it. The sooner you do, the sooner you can move forward.

The historians said Bush will be viewed as the worst president ever. The American public gave him the highest disapproval rating in modern history.

How important is it for you to not understand it? You're spinning and flailing so fast you're getting flop sweat all over this board!

What's the point of this thread. Bashing Bush is always more fun than, say, defending Obama as his campaign flounders.

I have a sneaky feeling that history will be kind to Bush. This War on Terror might just prove to be heralded as an event that prevented the upheaval of mankind as we know it.
