Race is also a central element to the discussion here (NYC) of Wesley Snipes being sentenced to the max for tax evasion.

I have a hard time linking race with the NYC and or the Snipes case. Snipes has been thumbing his nose to the IRS for years and if the federal government does not come down hard on Snipes who is a very public figure it will set a precedent for me people to evade taxes based on flimsy legal arguments.
The NYC thing is odd, but i have a hard time linking race with credible unbiased witness testimony versus protectionist fellow officers. Sounds like more of a credibility issue rather than race. Maybe the officers were over aggressive or improper but I would hardly think in NY with minority officers involved this is a black hate issue.

Since this wasn't a jury trial, I think the accusation of racial bias doesn't hold weight. If, say, the defense attorney had tried to strike all potential black jurors, then that would have been problematic. Even though the defense likely asked for trial by judge because they feared a black jury, I think we can assume that the judge wasn't a closet KKK member. By the way, the shouts of "KKK" remind me of Bonfire of the Vanities. DieHard, you'd probably enjoy it. There could be another issue: cops getting away with using excessive force. For instance, check out this article.
