Yeah, that creeps me out. I always figured Satan would go after the media first, tell us all what we think. Fox News is the tip of the iceberg.

I loved when they had Karl Rove on to talk about Obama's handling of Wright. Do you even need to have the sound up when you know he's just gonna tell you exactly what you want/need to hear in order to continue believing what you want/need to?

Rove??
Wasn't he the mastermind that sunk the great American statesman John Kerry against the Hitleresque Bush??

Seems like you'd be interested in what such a political evil genius.
Especially in light of the empty suit's clumsy handling of his looney mentor.

BTW Murdoch's a democrat.
Just not as far left as your boy Soros.

Please. Murdoch's affiliation is with money and power. His heart and soul are literally made of legal currency. He's a media mogul with absolutely zero affinity for the truth.

Is Murdoch a registered Democrat? I couldn't find any info online about it...

Even if he is, that doesn't mean anything. Arch-neoconservative Richard Perle's a registered Democrat too.

EDIT: Rupert Murdoch's campaign contributions this year (via opensecrets.org):
  • John E. Sununu, Republican ($2,300)
  • Ted Stevens, Republican ($300)
  • Ted Stevens, Republican ($300)
  • John E. Sununu, Republican ($300)

Times: Murdoch and Hillary Divorce

Former Hillary Clinton supporter Rupert Murdoch left no doubt that he’s turned against Hillary when his New York Post ran a Page One announcement endorsing her rival Barack Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination.

The Post’s scathing anti-Clinton editorial was a 180 degree turnaround from just two years ago when Murdoch — head of the News Corporation — endorsed Hillary’s Senate re-election effort and even held a fundraiser for her campaign.

But a New York Times analysis of the Post’s Obama endorsement suggests that payback may have been a motive.

Apparently Murdoch was not happy when Clinton joined other Democratic candidates, led by then candidate John Edwards, in boycotting planned debates to be sponsored by Fox News, another News Corp. holding.

“Fox News and the Post are corporate siblings, although they’re not particularly close,” The New York Times reported. “Still, Mr. Murdoch certainly took note of the fact that the courtesies extended to Mrs. Clinton — a muted presence in the gossip columns of [the Post’s] Page Six, more balance in the news pages — did not seem to be returned in kind.”

In announcing its backing of Obama, the Post ran the larger-than-usual front-page headline “Post Endorses Obama,” and cited as a major reason for the endorsement that Obama “is not Team Clinton. That counts for a great deal.”

The editorial also said that Hillary represented “a return to the opportunistic, scandal-scarred, morally muddled years of the almost infinitely self-indulgent Clinton co-presidency.”

The next day, the Post endorsed John McCain for the Republican nomination — with a smaller headline.

According to the Times, Murdoch’s erstwhile backing of Hillary was a practical matter, as he sought to establish a good working relationship with one of New York’s senators.

But the Post made it clear when it endorsed Clinton for the Senate that there was “no endorsement of what were assumed to be her broader ambitions,” the Times observed.

The Post said at the time: “We think she’s done such a good job these last six years that she’d do well to serve six more. If not 12. Re-elect Hillary. In 2012.”

I see. It's Obama now.
But isn't the Post (and Times in England) a pretty liberal paper?

The Post is very conservative, or, I should say, anti-liberal.

I see.
The Times in England is liberal isn't it?
Mayhaps I've f*cked up all around.

That's what I said, Steve: Murdoch doesn't give a shit about us peasants and our silly little game of politics. Neither does Satan (or at least he didn't when I signed my contract).

He's bigger than that and he worships his one true god: Money.

Nobody cares about the poor Shep.
Nobody.
And it is our silly game.

Money
power
fame.

Populism is only a means to an end.

That's just bullshit, my friend. TONS of people care about other people, especially the ones who have the tougher road to hoe. They do way more amazing things than I've done in my life.

A lot of people really do vote with their hearts, too.

Are there people who wear liberalism (or conservatism) like a coat? To belong to the club? To identify? Sure.

But I totally and completely disagree that everyone who cares is faking it. And I hope you're just overstating... because if not, you're so hopeless about people I have to think something really, really shitty happened to you.

And I'm not being a dick. At that moment.

Sure you are but I understand you can't help it.

Maybe somebody out in the world is actually making great sacrifices in his life to help the less fortunate with no thought to wealth power glory or self aggrandizment.

I don't know any but I'd be willing to bet that there are NONE among millionaire politicians.

Wow, you're a cynical dude, Steve.

There are plenty of politicians who care about the poor. And not just liberals: Jack Kemp comes to mind.

I've also heard Jeff Sachs give a lecture on ending world poverty, and this guy's the real deal. No tenured professor spends his time trekking through small villages in Africa because he's interested in power or self-aggrandizement.

I think I'm just honest.
Do I think it's nice if somebody helps out another?
Sure.
But don't kd ourselves over it.
Whether it gives one a good feeling about themselves or draws praise from others I don't know anyone who (remember my words) actually sacrifices for the downtrodden.
And
"not caring at all" was (as anyone with a brain would know and I don't mean that as an inult to you) is just me being a little over the top.
We all care some. We all feel bad.
Most of us do a little something.
I just don't believe I know anyone who gives til it actually inconveniences them.

Oh, shit, man. Of course you do. I'm a piker at this, but I've made sandwiches with my own hands and packed clothes onto trucks and driven Christmas gifts all over this city and given gobs of money and not once was it convenient. Not once wasn't it a pain in the ass on some level.

Nobody knew about it. Nobody filmed me. I do not talk about it at cocktail parties or in pitch meetings. And I'm a total lightweight at the decency thing.

Does it make me feel good? Shit, yes. Doing something good should make you feel good.

I care about the poor actually, my every thought every day is about how does that help the weak get strong or does is crucify the weak

And the Bush Presidency has a complete 100% record of burying the weak into road kill

And I have been vocal and upset about it since mid 2001
